Goodbye Big Buff

June 23, 2010

We’ll always have the memories.

Sorry, I’d post the videos in here, but that would require me to give WordPress money. Click the links. Hilarity will ensue.

My immediate reaction to this trade is as such:

– While it’s sad to see playoff hero Dustin Byfuglien go, I think it’s for the best. He at times looks really sluggish and if it wasn’t for the system the Hawks used him in, I doubt his stock would be as high as it is currently.

– I’m glad to be rid of Sopel. Besides the fact I think he’s not that great of a player, he also looks like Anton Chigurh and that’s bothersome.

– I really don’t have much to write on Eager leaving, but I am happy we moved Aliu as he’s been rumored to be a head case.

– Reasoner is a fantastic third line center which will make the Hawks deeper. Also Reasoner is an awesome last name. I like my hockey team to feature awesome names.

– Everything I’ve read or heard thus far about Morin is that he was one of Atlanta’s top prospects and he’s going to be a great player.

– This deal gives the Hawks some much needed cap space as it clears out $5.33 million in contracts.

– The Hawks will now have two picks in both the first and second rounds, which is great for trying to help build this team’s farm system.

Right now this deal is looking pretty even. If my assumptions about Byfuglien are correct, Morin is the player people claim him to be and the draft picks turn out to be good players, in a few years this trade could potentially look like a huge win for the Hawks.

Goodbye Buff, you shall be missed. Haha…Dustin Byfuglien.

    Greatest Byfuglien moment ever.
