Weekend Plans (Dec. 8-10)

January 8, 2010

Well the first normal weekend of 2010 is here and a normal hockey schedule returns as well. I am quite thankful for this as I want to see some live hockey.

High School

Lake Central v. Portage

@ Midwest Training and Ice Center, 7:30 pm

This game features two teams that have been struggling all season long in the Illiana League. Both teams seek to improve their record and avoid the bottom of the standings.

Munster v. Lakeshore/St. Joe Red

@ Howard Ice Arena, 8:10 pm

Both teams have played well in-league this season, but Munster’s crossover record is quite impressive. Also I was unaware that this rink is outdoors, if you’re looking for a game that hearkens back to pond hockey days, perhaps this is the game to watch.

Park Tudor v. Lawrence

@ Forum at Fishers, 9:30 pm

Lawrence is currently tied for first in the Hoosier League with Park Tudor only three points behind with two-in-hand. Expect a great league matchup.

HSE A v. Noblesville

@ Forum at Fishers, 9:30 pm

While Park Tudor and Lawrence battle it out, HSE A takes on Noblesville in another Hoosier League game. HSE A currently sits atop the tie for first by virtue of fewer games played.

Ice v. Sioux City Musketeers

@ Pepsi Coliseum, 7:05 pm

Indiana faces a Sioux City team that is currently in third in the much tougher West Division. Expect a good game and cheap beer since it’s Affordable Friday.

Komets v. Bloomington Prairie Thunder

@ Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, 8 pm

This should be an evenly matched game as the teams sit 3rd & 4th in the standings. Also it’s Nick Boucher bobblehead night for the first 1,000 in attendance.

High School

NOTE: There is a ton of high school hockey happening on both Saturday and Sunday. The following games are the best of the best. For a full schedule, go here.

Adams v. Marian

@ The Ice Box, 6 pm

This is a Michiana League game between two very evenly matched teams.

South Stars Blue v. Park Tudor

@ Fishers Forum, 9:15 pm

Park Tudor always has a good team and the South Stars Blue are a great team this season. This should be a fantastic matchup.

Carmel Gold v. Carroll

@ McMillen Blue, 11:50 am

This will be the first of Carroll’s two games against the top level Carmel teams on Saturday. The toughest challenge will come from this game.

Ice v. Sioux City Musketeers

@ Pepsi Coliseum, 7:05 pm

Komets v. Muskegon Lumberjacks

@ Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, 7:30 pm

This has been one of the most bitter rivalries this season in the IHL. Plenty of fights and aggressive play to be expected.

High School

Carmel Gold v. Homestead

@ McMillen Blue, 10 am

If you’re willing to get up this early on a Sunday, you will be treated to great hockey featuring two of the state’s better teams.

St. Joseph’s v. Carroll

@ McMillen, 11:10 am

Another early one that will be well worth getting up for.

It was really tough to pick one this week, but I’ve settled on the Komets v. the Lumberjacks. That Saturday night game could be well forth driving across the state to see.
