15 Game Suspension Handed Out After Muskegon-Fort Wayne Fight

November 5, 2009

For those of you that have not heard about what happened on Saturday night, there was a major brawl in the latter moments of the first period which involved the majority of the players on the ice surface and a few in the penalty box.

This video will catch you up to speed.

If you didn’t already know, you can’t leave the penalty box and then throw the referee to the ice.

Komets player Brad MacMillan was given a 15 game suspension for his actions along with an undisclosed fine.  Muskegon’s Robin Big Snake and Jason Lawmaster (I promise I’m not making up those names) also were fined.

The moral of the story, breaking out of the box to get in a fight and toss the official to the ground is a poor life decision.

I personally have always thought that they need to change those rules. I mean in the past, breaking out of the penalty box and throwing the ref to the ground was out of place, but nowadays it is just an integral part of the hockey experience. Seems odd to punish for it.
