Weekend Plans (Oct. 30-Nov. 1)

October 29, 2009

I hope every weekend to be able to provide a list of quality hockey going on within the state, so if you get the itch to watch the game live, you’ve got options.

Halloween weekend is upon us and if you’re looking for some treats on the ice, here’s a good start on finding some quality hockey action.

High School

Lawrence v. Park Tutor

@ Forum at Fishers, 7:45 pm

This match up seems like it could turn into a great game. Lawrence comes into the game with a 5-5-0 record. They’ll face a 4-3-0 Park Tutor team that looks to improve their record.

Adams @ Valparaiso

@ The Ice Box, 9 pm

Something for the Michiana folks. Both teams have looked promising in early games. Get to the rink a few hours early and you can catch either Penn Gold v. Marian or Riley v. Lakeshore/St. Joe Red.

IU v. Oklahoma Sooners

@ Frank Southern Ice Arena, 9:15 pm

Oklahoma heads into Bloomington this weekend ranked 5th in the ACHA.  Indiana (3-9-0) looks to be in for a long weekend.

Notre Dame v. Ohio State

@ Joyce Center, 7:35 pm

The Irish look to find some consistency against an Ohio State team that is just as inconsistent.

Indiana Ice v. Waterloo Black Hawks

@ Pepsi Coliseum, 7:05 pm

High School

Evansville v. Cathedral-Chatard

@ Fishers Forum, 7:15 pm

Evansville is currently 10-2-0 and seems to be a team to pay attention to this season.

Munster v. Carmel Gold

@ Midwest Training and Ice Center, 4:50 pm

An undefeated Munster squad takes on a very good Carmel team that will be playing its second game of the day on Saturday.

IU v. Oklahoma Sooners

@ Frank Southern Ice Arena, 2:30 pm

Notre Dame v. Ohio State

@ Joyce Center, 5:05 pm

Indiana Ice v. Waterloo Black Hawks

@ Pepsi Coliseum, 7:05 pm

The Ice will be celebrating Halloween on both Friday and Saturday.  Special events include half-off tickets to all people attending the game in full costume and a haunted house during intermission.

Fort Wayne Komets v. Muskegon Lumberjacks

@ Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, 7:30 pm

The Komets host a Muskegon club that’s been playing .500 hockey.

High School

Noblesville v. Adams

@Fishers Forum 1:45 pm

Two teams  playing good hockey meet in Fishers for what is shaping up to be a great game.

After some thought I’m going to give the inaugural nod to Saturday’s match up between the Indiana Ice and the Waterloo Black Hawks. Although, the Munster v. Carmel Gold game might just be the best hockey you’ll find in the state this weekend, the Ice get the accolades for what’s going on off the ice.

I’m not the biggest fan of Halloween, but you have to hand it to an organization willing to give half price tickets to fans in costumes and set up a haunted house in the stadium for intermission entertainment.
